‘Mike’ Actor Trevante Rhodes Once Admitted His First Acting Job Disappointed His Mother: “This Show Airs and All You See Is My Dead Body Because the Whole Scene Had Been Cut!”

Streaming service ‘Hulu’ will be premiering its upcoming limited series ‘Mike’ based on the iconic life of Mike Tyson. Renowned actor Trevante Rhodes will be playing the role of Tyson, which might be a step in the right detection after his recent successes.
However, this was not always the case for the ‘Moonlight’ actor who had some disappointing roles at the beginning of his career. Back in 2016, when Rhodes had just moved to Los Angeles from his hometown, Austin, he was able to land a role in a show named ‘Gang Related’.

“Within my second month of being in LA, I booked my first audition. It was like a co-star on a show called Gang Related,” he said in an interview with ‘Texas Monthly’.
However, he revealed he was cut off from the show, which disappointed his excited mother. “I got cut out of it. It was a unique thing because my mom was so proud, obviously. She’s on Facebook blasting it, “Oh, my baby’s gonna be on this show!” And this show airs, and all you see is my dead body because the whole scene had been cut. She was like, “that’s it?”

In the end, things did turn out great for Rhodes as he was able to get good roles. The actor was finally able to breakthrough after his spectacular performance in ‘Moonlight. Now, he will once again get to display his talents, portraying one of the greatest boxers of all time.
The ongoing controversy between Mike Tyson and Hulu
Tyson recently called out ‘Hulu’ for allegedly making the series without his proper consent. The former heavyweight champ voiced his displeasure in an Instagram post, claiming the streaming service did not pay him for using his story.

Moreover, he accused Hulu executives of having a ‘slave master’ over his life. Tyson has also asked his fans to boycott it. Figures like Dana White and Nate Diaz have come out in Iron Mike’s support.

However, Hulu producers have claimed that they did not contact Tyson because his life rights were already taken. They also defended the series and stated that they relied on multiple sources to give the best possible story.
