Popular radio host and actress Angela Martinez hosted Mike for an interview in her podcast IRL. First, they discussed how people always wanted to know more about Mike. Then, moving over to explore the power of love and achieving more in life, they touched base on the fear of death.

As a child, Mike loved rearing pigeons. The story goes that when an older boy killed one of his pigeons by twisting its neck, an enraged Mike trounced the bully in no time. Soon his reputation as a street brawler went rife.

Reflecting upon those insecure years during the interview, Mike mentioned that he is mentally and physically at peace. But, he feels that few nagging after-effects of a brutal childhood sometimes visit. He often questions whether he has been able to get rid of those demons successfully.

Angela asked, “You don’t think your childhood s**t ever goes away?”

Mike responded, “If it went away I would not be here talking to you. I mean um your mind wants you to get so far away from it…”

Mike Tyson: A blessed life, and an unsurpassable success

Further, Angela checked what he considered the ultimate success of his life. Mike reasoned that the birth of his children would be his most significant success narrative.

As the interview progressed, Angela asked whether Mike had ever considered establishing a connection with his parents, especially his mother. And pat came the former champion’s reply, “What I have, I’m married to her.”

Bewildered, Angela was curious to know further, and Mike added that his wife, Lakiha (Kiki) Spicer, is like a mother to him. She always spells out how he should behave and conduct himself in front of others.

By sharing some of his innermost thoughts and feelings, Mike Tyson has endeared himself to millions. A man whose stare used to put the fear of God in a mere mortal has now become an inspirational figure recognized globally.
