Teofimo Lopez, the former unified lightweight champion who defeated Vasyl Lomachenko in 2020 recently offered his verdict on ‘Loma’ vs. Devin Haney. Having been in the ring with ‘Loma’ and sparred with Haney, the 25-year-old is of the view that nobody is smart enough to defeat Lomachenko in the ring. According to Lopez, the Ukrainian boxer is a storehouse of “so many different tactics“.

There are various factors that Lopez feels make the two-time Olympic gold medalist a better fighter than Devin Haney. In 2020, despite demonstrating better accuracy, Lomachenko was conquered by Lopez’s busyness inside the ring. After two years, Lopez disclosed what makes ‘Loma’ a remarkable fighter in the sport of boxing.

In harmony with Lomachenko’s opinion, former rival and conquerer Teofimo Lopez announced no one is as smart as ‘Loma’ in boxing let alone Devin Haney. On being asked who would win between ‘Loma’ and ‘Haney’, Lopez confidently said, “I know it, man. I know how this business goes. Lomachenko. Why? ‘Cause he [Devin Haney] no Teofimo. Among other factors, Lopez believes Lomachenko is smart and has the experience that precedes his contemporaries. Having fought in the same ring as ‘Loma’, Lopez realized the Ukrainian boxer makes use of a number of different tactics while fighting. “I mean, I’ve been in the ring with the man. He’s smart. He has so many different tactics that I never use or thought of,” declared Lopez ahead of ‘Loma’ vs. Haney.

However, the American boxer emphasized Lomachenko’s experience in the ring. “He has dirty tactics, he has clean tactics. Overall, he has the experience and I don’t think any of them are ready for that,” he concluded. On the 20th of May, Lomachenko will have a chance to become the undisputed lightweight champion while dethroning Devin Haney.
