Fans came across Mike Tyson as Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. wound up with the media before their fight. Now just a couple of hours away, it is touted as arguably the biggest fight to have taken place in recent times. Many might have expected ‘The Baddest Man on The Planet” to pick either of the men as his choice for the Best Boxer in the world today, while he came across the usual round of questions. Pretty sure what he answered sent many off balance.
So speaking to FightHype, Mike Tyson first shared his views on the possible winner of the bout. He picked Crawford. But he added that the time it took to bring about the match had made the situation so cluttered that it was challenging to identify any significant difference between them. The reporter asked which boxer’s style he liked more. the former heavyweight champion said that even though ‘Bud’ is an outstanding fighter, he would cherry-pick Spence Jr. for how he fought.

For Mike Tyson, ‘The Monster’ rises above Spence Jr. or Crawford
The reporter promptly asked what Spence Jr. needed to do to avoid Crawford’s counter-punches. Tyson replied that the New York-born Southpaw would have to resort to relentless pressure. Perhaps that gave a cue to the reporter. He checked with the Youngest Heavyweight Champion on considering the fight a fifty-fifty affair. The latter then confessed that it was a daunting task to make out. Elie Seckbach also joined and asked Tyson between Crawford and Spence Jr. who would be his choice for an opponent.
‘Iron’ Mike shared, “I’d rather if I Spence because he…straight up, he comes at you. This guy (Crawford) is awkward, and you know, and that’s the problem…..”
Finally, the FyghtHype reporter asked about the Naoya Inoue fight and checked whether Tyson considered him the pound-for-pound best boxer or the winner of the Crawford-Spence Jr. fight as the best fighter in the world. Mike Tyson responded, “The Japanese fight is the best fighter in the world, [in] my opinion…”

It’s been more than fifteen years since Mike Tyson retired from boxing. The following years saw him involved heavily in new business ventures besides managing the growing popularity in the entertainment industry. But despite the divergent interests, his imprint on the sport never lost its luster. Conversely, he has become probably the most sought-after ex-boxer in the world. His opinion and presence as the boxing elder are worth their weight in gold.
