Oleksandr Usyk showcased his skills and boxing acumen, and he adjusted quickly against Tyson Fury to bag the undisputed crown on Saturday. The two left the arena battered and bruised. But soon, the rumors of the Ukrainian boxer sustaining a jaw injury and being taken to the hospital in an ambulance became a talking point. However, his promoter, Alex Krassyuk, has come clean on these speculations.

Usyk vs. Tyson notably has a rematch clause inserted during the negotiations to ensure the fight with high stakes and a heavy payout for both boxers could be staged again. The first chapter of Usyk vs. Tyson turned out to be a close affair, with a controversial decision by the referee not to stop the fight in the 9th round despite Fury being almost KO’ed as well as a judge’s disputed scoring. So, the ground is now fertile for both fighters to run it back one more time. Krassyuk has claimed that they are “100% clear”.

When asked by the host on Boxing King Media about the chances of a rematch, Krassyuk reiterated their devotion to the contract they signed. That is to honor the rematch if it is triggered by the other party. He said, “We are men of our words, if we give. It’s not about paperwork. If we shake hands and promise something, we normally do it. Simple as that.”

The K2 Promoters lynchpin asserted their dedication to the rematch clause that they had agreed to during the negotiations. Neither time nor money could deter them from holding their end of the bargain. He continued, “So we had this rematch on paper. It was pre-negotiated, even before we had any agreements. So I see no reason for the rematch not to take place. Especially from Usyk’s side, it’s clear. 100% clear. No doubt about it.”

Usyk, 36, had a similar vehement declaration during the post-fight press conference when he affirmed his willingness to give Tyson a rematch. “I am ready for a rematch,” he announced. However, before ‘The Cat’ sat down on the table to answer the media’s questions, there were whispers of him suffering a broken jaw. But that was not the case.

Krassyuk clarified the situation as he narrated the events of the night. He recalled that Usyk had some discomfort in his jaw after the fight. When he consulted with a doctor, they advised him to visit the hospital as early as possible, as it was a highly sensitive area. While there were tussles about whether Usyk should interact with the media or visit a hospital, the newly crowned champion chose the former.

Moreover, Krassyuk mentioned that the “narrative” about the Simferopol native’s broken jaw was floated by Tyson Fury and Frank Warren at the press conference. When Usyk visited the hospital after the presser, they did the tests and advised one week of rest. He confirmed, “Nothing major [about the injury]… It’s something like one-week recovery.”
