Muhammad Ali‘s grandson, Nico Ali Walsh, encountered his first boxing defeat, leaving his supporters crying foul and branding it a ‘robbery.’ The 23-year-old, who had previously won all eight of his initial fights, faced Sona Akale on August 26 and suffered a split decision loss that sparked controversy.

Notably, Ali Walsh had previously drawn with Danny Rosenberger in May, a result that was later overturned due to a failed drug test. However, Walsh has decided to move on to his next fight and planned to schedule the fight in his ‘motherland’, Africa. The fans hyped him up for such a decision.

Muhammad Ali created history in Africa

On October 30, 1974, the historic bout between Muhammad Ali and defending champion George Foreman unfolded in Kinshasa, Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Ali’s triumphant victory marked his reclaiming of the world heavyweight boxing title. Dubbed the “Rumble in the Jungle” by Ali himself, the name has since become synonymous with this legendary clash.

Notably, both fighters, despite the fight occurring in Africa, hailed from the southern region of the United States—Ali from Louisville, Kentucky, and Foreman from Houston, Texas.
