Having secured a decisive victory on December 2 with a first-round stoppage against Ricardo Lopez, Floyd Schofield is now eyeing more significant challenges. Schofield boasted an impressive record of 16-0 with 12 knockouts. Now, he appears eager to step up in competition after four ten-round fights.

In his quest for a notable opponent, he is setting his sights on 31-year-old Joseph Diaz Jr., the 2012 U.S. Olympian. Diaz has faced recent challenges, having been pulled from an October fight against Richard Medina due to COVID-like symptoms. Diaz Jr. is also remembered as the former opponent of Devin Haney, against whom he lost via unanimous decision. However, he’s previously triumphed over Jerry Perez in July.

Floyd Schofield-Joseph Diaz Jr gets finalized

Following his dominant performance in a ten-round shutout against Haskell Lydell Rhodes, lightweight prospect Floyd Schofield is poised for a significant leap in competition. Cameron Davies, Schofield’s local promoter, expressed the heightened stakes, stating, “Every fight is going to be a top opponent from now on. Someone who’s been a world champion and who has the potential to be a world champion one day.

Even the promoter Oscar De La Hoya believes that Schofield holds the potential to become the World Champion by the end of 2024. Moreover, he’s even pushed Schofield for an exciting matchup. For potential PBC boxers vs. Golden Boy boxers, and for that he said, “I’m already thinking that I’m gonna put on, is a new kid. I have Floyd Schofield who I’m really high on. Oh yeah, he had a great fight last time.

This decision was made after Schofield’s recent victory. He unexpectedly headlined the DAZN show in San Antonio, Texas, following Vergil Ortiz‘s withdrawal due to hospitalization. This would be the 21-year-old Austin native’s ascent to the main event. Recently J Calderon reported that Floyd Schofield has made a “done deal” with Joseph Jojo Diaz Jr.

Confident in his abilities, Schofield has engaged in spirited trash-talking with Diaz ahead of their upcoming fight. With unbridled confidence, Schofield firmly believes that he will emerge victorious against Diaz.
