The face of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, has managed to earn success not just as a boxer but as a promoter as well. Earning the nickname ‘Golden Boy’ because of his remarkable victory in the 1992 Olympics which made him the only US boxer to bring back a gold medal to his country. He has managed to establish himself as a successful promoter as well with his own promotion company. Moreover, he now also has his own HBO documentary that is making rounds in the boxing world.

However, as the famous proverb suggests, there’s a woman behind every successful man. It seems that this is the case for the boxer as well. De La Hoya recently took to Instagram to attribute all his success, including the success of his recent documentary, to his girlfriend.

Oscar De La Hoya expresses gratitude to his girlfriend

Oscar De La Hoya has received his own two-part MAX documentary called, ” The Golden Boy”. The documentary showcased the struggles De La Hoya faced, coming from an immigrant family. It revealed the struggles De La Hoya faced with addiction and his rough life. As his documentary continues to move the hearts of boxing fans all over the world, the man himself has come out dedicating his success to his current girlfriend, Holly Sonders.

Recently, he also described how Sonders “changed” his life. In the wholesome post, De La Hoya shared a picture of the two of them together. In the caption, he wrote, “Thank you for making the “The Goldenboy a huge success. If you thought parts 1 and 2 are shocking, wait till 3 and 4 on a side note, look at my face and see through my soul, this woman right here did that. I love you buba.” De La Hoya’s post shows how important the support of a partner is for any individual’s success.

De La Hoya and Holly Sonders: bound by love

As he retired for the second time in 2022, ‘Golden Boy’ told BoxingScene.com that he can’t imagine himself back in the ring. When asked about Sonders, he said that he feels “complete now.” He claimed, “I have a woman by my side who makes me feel like King Kong.” He added that being with her is “motivating“.

Sonders seems to have provided immense support to the boxer and stuck by him even during the April 2022 lawsuit. Speaking of Sonders, she has been the face of Morning Drive on Golf Channel for five years. They both met at a boxing event back in June 2021 and have been together ever since. De La Hoya has previously called her “the most caring, sweetest, and selfless person”.
