Amidst the pandemonium regarding Ryan Garcia’s next opponent, a name has emerged. Jose Ramirez. Is the fight finally on the cards? Oscar De La Hoya suggests, almost. However, to reach this name, the promoter-fighter duo had to navigate through some other propositions.

Devin Haney, Rolando Romero, and Isaac Cruz; all presented themselves as potential opponents to Ryan Garcia, who defeated Oscar Duarte in December to redeem himself from the Gervonta Davis loss, his career’s first. However, like cards, these fights eventually fell, and Ramirez rose to the occasion. De La Hoya, Ry’s feuding promoter has now revealed the status of that fight and what went down that saw the lapse of other awaited clashes.

Why not Rolly or ‘The Pitbull’?

De La Hoya in a post that had no mentions of the fighters he was talking about noted, “[laughing emoji] all these fighters pricing themselves out!!” However, in responses to the following post, many probed why the Rolly or Cruz fights were not happening. To one of those comments, the promoter responded, “Priced himself out.”

Before the holidays, the promoter was elated to get the Haney fight rolling after the latter too showed interest in it publicly. However, his fighter, Ryan Garcia later pulled out of it, instructing the promoter to get the Rolando Romero clash on paper.

Amidst those negotiations, Mexican fighter, Isaac Cruz also threw his name in the hat. Explaining to FightHub TV he noted, “I want to emphasize that both I and Ryan want the fight. Our managers agree, and our promoters also agree. Everyone also agrees this is a great fight. The only reason this fight isn’t happening and the negotiations aren’t finished is because of Lupe Valencia” Valencia is Ry’s attorney. In an Instagram story, Ry too hinted at his interest in the fight. However, now with De La Hoya’s revelation, it seems like that fight too has seen its knell.

With the fall of the fight against Rolly and Cruz, another fight has emerged, and the promoter suggests that it is almost on the cards.

Ryan Garcia vs. Jose Ramirez inch toward the finishing line

On his X, the promoter gave a promising update on Garcia vs. Ramirez. He noted, “Looking like @RyanGarcia vs jose Ramirez is getting close and happening.” The confirmation comes in the light of  ‘Jaguar’ leaving Top Rank Boxing and joining De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.

‘The Boxing Guy’ Dan Rafael earlier reported that after leaving Top Rank, the former 140-titlist sought a deal with De La Hoya. The fighter who lost his unified titles to Josh Taylor declined Top Rank’s $2 million plus offer to challenge Teofimo Lopez’s WBO title in February.
