“Outside of Floyd Mayweather” – Eddie Hearn Fires a Massive Warning to Canelo Alvarez Ahead of Dmitry Bivol Bout

On May 7, 2022, the pound-for-pound king, Canelo Alvarez, will put his boxing under a much-anticipated test against an undefeated Russian boxer, Dmitry Bivol. Both of the same age, Alvarez will clash with Bivol in the hope to captivate the WBO super world light heavyweight title. Now with weeks ahead of this bout, Matchroom Sport Chairman and boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn makes a rattling claim.

Despite his spectacular professional record of 57-1-2 and 39 KOs, promoter Eddie Hearn believes, Alvarez is heading towards one of the toughest matches of his life. Irrespective of the heat that has long forged and seasoned Alvarez – the fighter; Hearn claims, “outside of Floyd Mayweather” Bivol is one serious challenge.

How tough does Eddie Hearn think Dmitry Bivol to be?

With Gennady Golovkin’s fresh victory against Ryota Murata, the third match between Golovkin and Alvarez is pretty certain. However, for Eddie Hearn, with 10 consecutive title defenses, and a record of 19-0, all eyes are on Bivol.

As he says in one of his recent appearances on ‘The DAZN Boxing Show’, “I’ve got to tell you, I’m not even talking about Canelo Alvarez against GGG until this Bivol fight is over,” expresses Hearn.

“I saw clips of Bivol. He’s looking sensational on the pads — his footwork, his movement, his punching power. I’m telling you now, this may be the toughest fight of Canelo Alvarez’s career outside of Floyd Mayweather. This is a really tough fight,” Hearn added.

As per the stats, how good does Canelo Alvarez look against his rival?

Although they both are 31, there is a tremendous gap when it comes to fighting experience. Not to discredit what Bivol has achieved, for he has achieved everything with a fair amount of strength. However, Alvarez is entering this bout with 60 professional matches, as opposed to Bivol who’s had so far 19 fights.

In addition, Alvarez has 39 knockouts and has also shared the ring with the likes of GGG and Mayweather. Certainly, Alvarez has a ring IQ that is far better than the rest.
