Mike Tyson is synonymous with legacy. The former heavyweight champion has established a career that leaves a profound impression on his fans. His story is not an ordinary one; it is anything but ordinary. Here is Tyson, who rose to riches and fame through his sport in an era where only hard work could get him there. His story is also one of the lowest, as in 2003 he filed for bankruptcy. Someone who lived a very controversial and spoken-about life, Mike Tyson, finds himself in a peaceful and calm position today. Giving anyone very little chance to criticize him.

It is not an exaggeration to say that only someone as resilient as ‘Iron Man’ Tyson is capable of doing what he has in his career. And he does shy away from speaking his truth. If nothing else, he is honest and grounded about the mistakes he has made in his life. And he holds himself accountable for that. A recent post by Tyson made us think about how the man has risen from all adversities yet again.

With over 21.6 million followers on Instagram, he has always leveraged the platform to speak about life, his business, and his journey. A post made by him recently saw the fighter release birds from a huge cage in his estate into the open sky. Captioning the post, “Peace is the sky,” Mike also used the famous Spanish song ‘ Lady Gaga’ by Gabito Ballesteros, Junior H, and Peso Pluma. Further, Mike can be seen saying, “Ciao,” as he released the birds into the open sky.

Pluma’s very popular song talks about a famous person, Lady Gaga. The star is always amidst paparazzi, chaos, and fans. It also talks about not posting anything to Instagram but just enjoying their lives amidst the riches they have earned. We can’t fathom if Mike was insinuating something through the song. However, the song is befitting of his life. Given the redemption he has shown, the post is nothing short of proof of his ability to rise again.

Mike believes in the present rather than leaving behind a legacy

In a recent interview with Cigars & Spirits, Mike Tyson candidly broke down his idea of legacies. In a nutshell, Tyson said that he believes in the present and is serving the roles he has in the present in all honesty. He added that there would be no point in a legacy because no one takes it with them to the dust. “For me, being a present father, husband, and friend is more important than an attachment to my ego, which is all legacy really means to me at this stage in my growth,” he said.

The interview gives us a never-before-heard voice of Mike that is so raw, honest, and deeply moving. He speaks of his highs and lows, his life, and friends that mean family to him. His yearning to fight more and achieve more is clearly described in the interview. Showing gratitude to the sport of boxing, Tyson also spoke about how the sport found him and helped him grow. He extended this gratitude to his trainer, Cus, whom he believes has grown as a man and a boxer.

The last time Tyson entered the ring was in November 2020, when he fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition fight. The bout drew 1.6 million pay-per-view buys, making it one of the biggest successes of that year and leading to speculation Tyson could lace up the gloves again. However, out of the $10 million he bagged from the fight, Tyson vowed to donate all of it to charity.
