Before becoming the current WBA world super lightweight title holder, Rolando Romero squared off against Gervonta Davis with the latter’s WBA title on the line. Despite being the shorter fighter, Davis exposed Romero, and in the 6th round of the fight, he dropped him to win the bout via a technical knockout. A year later, Romero has now fought Ismael Barroso in his latest fight.

Romero, who was 13 years younger, won the mentioned fight via a TKO in the 9th round. Following the end of the bout, Romero, who wants a rematch with Gervonta Davis, made a bold statement. In his opinion, the 40-year-old Ismael Barroso exceeded the then-27-year-old Gervonta Davis when he fought Romero inside the squared circle.

To borrow the phrase from Rolando Romero himself, Ryan Garcia is the “only fight” he cares for right now. In his opinion, the winner of Romero vs. Garcia should have the opportunity to face Gervonta Davis “on Showtime pay-per-view“. “At the end of the day, I got the belt. And I make the shots,” Romero added. What did you think about Romero’s last performance inside the ring? What do you make of his statement? In addition, do you want to see him rematch Davis?
