Boxing Rankings: Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury’s Positions on BoxRec’s “Ridiculous” British Heavyweight Top 10 List Sparks Outrage Among Fans
Follow Us
After Tyson Fury suffered an unprecedented cut during sparring, the fight against Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed Heavyweight title was postponed to 18th May 2024. Meanwhile, in March this year, Anthony Joshua squared off against Francis Ngannou in Riyadh to defeat the former UFC champion via a second-round KO.
Although Fury struggled against Ngannou when they fought in October last year, ‘The Gypsy King’ managed to win the contest via SD. In addition, unlike Joshua, 28-3-0, the 35-year-old is undefeated in the sport. As a result, when BoxRec decided to put Anthony Joshua above Tyson Fury in their latest British Heavyweight Rankings, it sparked outrage among fans!
As per the list by BoxRec, Derek Chisora is at no.6. ‘War’ is preceded by Dillian Whyte, Joe Joyce, Daniel Dubois, Anthony Joshua, and Tyson Fury. Although Chisora won British, Commonwealth, and European titles in his career, the 40-year-old is close to retiring. Additionally, besides losing his last title bout against Fury in a trilogy, Chisora lost to Joseph Parker and Oleksandr Usyk among others.

On the other hand, with the unified Heavyweight title on the line last year, Dubois went against Oleksandr Usyk. In round five, with a controversial blow, he even knocked down ‘The Cat’, but eventually got stopped by Usyk in the ninth round.
On the other hand, Joe Joyce, 16-2-0, lost to Zhilei Zhang twice. However, Joyce was the former interim Heavyweight champion of the world. At this, Joyce’s position may still be justified.
However, while Anthony Joshua lost thrice in professional boxing, Tyson Fury remains undefeated in the sport. Therefore, when Anthony Joshua preceded Tyson Fury, fans thought the rankings were unfair. On that note, they took to X and voiced their opinions about BoxRec’s latest Heavyweight Rankings.
Boxing fans expect Tyson Fury to be the number one British boxer
Although Tyson Fury has yet to test himself against Oleksandr Usyk who beat Anthony Joshua twice, a fan believes Fury deserves to be above ‘AJ’. As a result, they branded the rankings as “Ridiculous“.
