George Kambosos Jr. shared a half-minute-long training video yesterday afternoon. It shows him shadowboxing, with bands to add resistance to his punches. Since then, the post has been gaining traction. Already, over 50k people have viewed it. A string of comments also came in. Most people were enthused by the former unified champion preparing himself for the next big match.

He tweeted, “Band work.” Then added, “We will be ready.” Was he hinting at the upcoming Vasyl Lomachenko fight, scheduled for the second quarter of next year? Unlike last year, he had only one bout this year. On July 22, in Oklahoma’s Firelake Arena, he fought Britain’s Maxi Hughes for his IBO lightweight title. The match went the whole distance. George Kambosos Jr. won the match by a majority decision.

To the following user, it remained an undeniable fact that Kambosos Jr. always arrives at a battle prepared and physically fit.

Addressing next year’s tentative match with Vasyl Lomachenko, the following fan posited that George Kambosos Jr. and Shakur Stevenson should get into a fight. According to the fan, the Aussie boxer will easily destroy the Newark-born southpaw.

The next user appears to be a bitter critic of Kambosos Jr. For them, ‘Ferocious’ lost his last bout to Mahi Hughes. What he mentioned about the outcome of the match between Devin Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko turned out to be an absolute hogwash. Hence, according to the user, the Ukrainian boxer will knock him out when they meet next year.

Reportedly, there was quite an uproar when the scorecards for the Maxi Hughes bout came. While two of the judges scored in Kambosos Jr.’s favor, 117-111 and 115-113, the third judge deemed it a draw, 114-114.

Kambosos Jr.’s winding path to title glory

‘The Emperor’ returned to the ring after a break of nine months following the second loss to Devin Haney. Two years ago, Kambosos Jr. grabbed major headlines as he defeated Teófimo Lopez. The latter had outwitted the technical wizardry of Lomachenko the previous year to become the unified lightweight champion. But the win also brought Kambosos Jr. into Devin Haney’s crosshairs. The American boxer traveled to Australia and won a well-deserved victory over ‘Ferocious’ to become the new undisputed lightweight champion. The two were to meet again four months later. However, there was no variance in the outcome.
