Not even a week is over for the Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou bout. Many termed it a bitter expose of the Heavyweight division. For a fighter who hadn’t participated in a boxing rules match ever, ‘The Predator’ turned the tables on the favorite. Undoubtedly, landing the only knockdown of the match, followed by the split decision loss, seems to have served the Cameroonian-French fighter more than the win for ‘The Gypsy King.’

Now, with talks of inclusion among the top ten Heavyweight boxers, Ngannou has become the hot property of boxing. No sooner than the bout got over, Matchromm’s Eddie Hearn, for one, spoke on the possibilities of a bout between ‘The Predator’ and Anthony Joshua. But what about a Tyson Fury-‘AJ’ match? It’s probably the fight fans would love watching over anything else. But in a fresh round with the media, the Matchroom honcho didn’t spare Fury, who, a couple of years ago, was called out by Bob Arum as the ‘second coming of Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.’

Eddie Hearn: In critique of Team Fury

Hearn was talking to iFL TV. The reporter asked him about any chances of the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight: “Does Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight within the next 12 months if you’re a betting man?” The Matchroom boss replied that he would want the two to get in the ring and fight. However, if truth be told, he could only guess what Tyson Fury’s next action would be. However, he appreciated the work put in by his team, including his father, John Fury, and brother, Shane Fury.

He mentioned how many a time what the Fury camp said would be nothing but hogwash. It’s something that he, too, indulged in sometimes. However, if they called him out and expected him not to respond in kind, it doesn’t work that way, he explained. He said, “when you box like you did on Saturday and you tell everyone you’re the second coming of Muhammad Ali, don’t expect people to you know you’ve gone over there for a cash grab, and you’ve just got beat by a bloke that’s never had a professional fight before. What do you think that comes without criticism? You got to be bigger than that….”

Eddie Hearn finally mentioned that Tyson Fury might do better against Oleksandr Fury than he did last Saturday. But he wasn’t sure whether it would happen or not.

A ‘Rumble in the Jungle II’?

When the fight between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou occurred, Eddie Hearn was in Cancun, Mexico. He oversaw the bout between his charge, Eduardo Hernandez, and O’Shaquie Foster. Hernandez lost the match. However, Hearn sounded upbeat about the outcome of the Fury-Ngannou fight while speaking with the media. According to him, Tyson Fury should give in to a rematch. If not, then he should fight Joshua. If the Mancunian has his hands full with the Oleksandr Usyk fight, then Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua should happen.

Per available reports, Hearn posited that if a fight between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou comes up, then it could take place in either Saudi Arabia or any other Middle Eastern country. Better still, if it could occur in Africa, à la Ali and Foreman’s ‘Rumble in the Jungle.’ However, whether it would be a financially lucrative alternative is something they might have to look into.
