The tense situation between Ryan Garcia and his feuding promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, seems to be cementing right now. In fresh revelations, while in a heart-to-heart conversation, the fighter came clean about the developments that have taken place between him and the boxer-turned-promoter.

In the wake of his career’s first loss against Gervonta Davis last year, Garcia lashed out at his promoter, ‘Golden Boy’ for supposedly abandoning him post the fight. The California-based fighter also claimed that no one from the promoter’s team was by him during the post-fight press conference. While ‘KingRy’ threatened to fire De La Hoya, the latter counter-sued the fighter to make him abide by their agreement. In the months that followed till now, the world watched the situation between them getting tense with each passing day. Speaking to Patrick Bet-David on his podcast, the 25-year-old fighter was probed on the current status of his relationship with the Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hoya. In response, the 24-1 fighter noted, “Way better. It’s way better.” But what changed?

“I said, I don’t do this. I don’t do this. Let’s figure it out. That’s all it took. I don’t do this. Whatever this chaos is. I don’t do that. We’re going to come together, we’re going to figure this out. I said I love you. I said, regardless of all the media sh*t or legal things I love you, let’s figure it out,” said Garcia.

However, such ‘water under the bridge’ efforts come in the wake of an earlier volatile set of sparks that went down between the fighter-promoter duo. After Rolando Romero had cashed out of his fight against Ry, De La Hoya announced that Jose Ramirez was almost fixed as Ry’s next opponent. Hours later, Ry came on social media and announced that he would not fight Ramirez, further insinuating that he was unaware of the offers De La Hoya had made on his behalf.

Scorned now, on X, he wrote, “Ryan Garcia vs Oscar De La Hoya at this point.” Garcia’s suggestion that things were getting between him and the promoter comes at an awkward juncture, given how in the same interview he had otherwise to suggest as well.
