Shakur Stevenson Slams Kid Austin for Turning Down Abdullah Mason Fight for Title Shot

Floyd Schofield aka Kid Austin, 16-0-0, has been willing to fight Shakur Stevenson for some time. As a result, publicly, Austin challenged Shakur to a fight at the end of 2024. But, the current WBC Lightweight champion, having branded Austin “easy money“, refused to share the ring with the 21-year-old. Yet, the boxer from Newark decided to offer Kid Austin an “undeserved shot” at his title.

For that reason, Stevenson assigned Schofield a test. But, Kid Austin refused to sit for it. By doing so, he proposed that Shakur face him immediately in the sport. Here is what happened between Shakur and Kid Austin.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Shakur Stevenson revealed the direct messages he had sent to Floyd Schofield aka Kid Austin. To make Schofield’s dream of fighting Stevenson come true, the 26-year-old suggested Kid Austin face Abdullah Mason first in June. In this process, he promised the winner a shot at his WBC Lightweight title. “Let’s make it happen next,” wrote Shakur.

Addressing Kid Austin, Stevenson emphasized, “I’ll give u a undeserved shot at my belt if u can get past this real test.”

Additionally, Shakur claimed this was an opportunity of a lifetime that he was offering to Kid Austin. However, Austin’s silence disturbed him. But, Abdullah Mason replied positively. Taking to Instagram Stories, Mason claimed the potential bout in June made “perfect sense“. However, Kid Austin felt otherwise.

Kid Austin can’t wait longer to lay his hands on Shakur

Despite Shakur’s proposal via DM, Kid Austin preferred to remain silent. At this, Shakur Stevenson took to X and shared a poster of Austin facing off with Mason. “Abdullah ready. What’s the word champ @KidAustin11 let’s set a different standard for our sport talk to me champ?” Shakur wrote. In his reply, Kid Austin ordered Shakur to “Change that photo to me and you“. Along these lines, he even promised to KO Shakur by the 4th round. But, Shakur was not going to take it.

Replying to Kid Austin, Shakur claimed Austin and his father were using Shakur’s name to promote their fight.
