If we say Tyson Fury had a bit of bad luck lately, that would be an understatement. The British boxer not only lost his undisputed clash to Oleksandr Usyk, suffering the first loss of his professional career, but the other fights in the division also didn’t turn out his way. The result? Huge loss of revenue and the probable earning possibilities. His losses are well in the range of $150 million. How did that happen?

Fury, 36, was in the stands when Anthony Joshua dropped his fight with Daniel Dubois. There has been a lot of traction and demand for the British showdown between the two, and the two could have met in the ring in 2025 if they won their next matches. While Fury, at 34-1-1, is gearing up for his rematch with Usyk, at 22-0, ‘AJ” losing his bout meant putting the clash off the shelves. He declared after the fight, “Listen, that’s cost me £150 million, the silly c***.” But all is not lost.

If ‘The Gypsy King’ wins the rematch and bags the unified heavyweight straps, and Joshua, 34, returns to the winner’s column, a fight could be next. The fight will have action and enough buzz to make it a money-minting spectacle. However, it all depends on Fury exacting his revenge. It seems at least Shakur Stevenson has his weight behind him.

The WBC lightweight champion turned to his X handle and declared, “I got Fury in the rematch whoever wanna bet some Bread on it hit my line, Long as he in dog shape it’s gone be easy!”

The difficult part of the puzzle right now is Joshua, at 28-4, and his return to winning ways. But if we listen to Eddie Hearn, Fury vs. Joshua could happen in different circumstances and with a different storyline, too. What if it was about closing off their careers with a bang?

Eddie Hearn wants ‘AJ’ to close his career with Tyson Fury fight

Hearn, 45, laid out that if Fury loses the Usyk rematch, then the ideal scenario would be to tie up Joshua vs. Fury in a two-fight deal. But if they both win their matches, heavyweight titles could be on the line, making the contest more lucrative. It would result in better and heavier purses.

The Matchroom lynchpin told DAZN, “So, if Tyson Fury loses against Oleksandr Usyk, my advice would be for to have two fights in 2025 and then sail off into the sunset. May the best man win. If Fury wins against Usyk, AJ can fight Fury for the unified world heavyweight championship.”

The whole plan hinges on both fighters being on the same trajectory, hopefully winning, to maximize the profits. After all, they are at the very end of their careers, and both legacy and money dictate their choices.
