Shannon Briggs spoke about his recent interaction with Mike Tyson on the New York streets. This took place ahead of Iron Mike’s boxing fight against Jake Paul which is scheduled to go down on July 20th. Tyson will be heading back into the ring after 4 years since his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. back in 2020. Tyson and Briggs never really fought against each other during their pro careers. Still, they tried to fulfill the dreams of many boxing fans.

So, Mike Tyson walked the fans through his childhood spent in Brownsville, where he was accompanied by his friend Briggs. While he was sharing some great anecdotes, there came a time when both started play fighting with each other. ‘The Cannon’ didn’t hold back against Tyson as well.

During the Devin HaneyRyan Garcia event, Claressa Shields was being interviewed by Fight Hub TV, and at that time, Shannon Briggs made a surprise entrance. The focus instantly shifted towards the boxing legend, where the topic of both legends being spotted shirtless on the streets of New York came up. Briggs kept it light and stated, “Two old men fight on the corner, two old men fight on the corner.

After this, the interviewer diverted the topic to their playful brawl. So, the reporter wanted to know what Briggs thought about the upcoming fight between Tyson and Paul. Briggs replied, “Very good.” And at the same time, he made his future vendetta known to the public as well.

Briggs also declared, “I want the winner.” However, this could only be a playful dig at the fight, since he wasn’t too serious when he made this statement. But it’s to be seen who actually comes forth victorious. As of now, Jake Paul is quite cautious after seeing Mike Tyson’s training videos.

Jake Paul’s fear is serving as a catalyst

Jake Paul isn’t afraid to admit that Mike Tyson’s recent training videos have him feeling a healthy dose of fear. Mike looks ferocious at 57, and Paul, the YouTube star turned boxer, acknowledges the challenge he’s about to face in the upcoming fight. So, he gave the clear response on his own podcast.

He definitely is looking like a f***ing animal. I will say people are underestimating me. When I go to his comments, they’re saying if Mike loses then fighting is rigged. They see how good he looks on the mitts but Mike looking good on the mitts is not even half the battle, he’s got to face me in the ring. I think he might be seeing these videos and his confidence is growing,” Paul said, a hint of awe in his voice.

However, fear isn’t crippling him. Instead, it’s fueling his fire. Paul sees the upcoming fight as his biggest challenge yet, a chance to prove himself against a boxing legend. The age difference and Tyson’s raw power are undeniable. But Paul isn’t fazed by online critics predicting an easy Tyson victory.

He points out that Tyson’s pad work videos only tell part of the story. Come fight night, it’s a different ball game. Do you agree with this train of thought? Tell us in the comments section.
