Shawn Porter Makes His Pick Between Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo Ahead of September Bout

Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo will go toe-to-toe against each other on September 30th, which would be the first contest in the three-fight deal, PBC signed with Alvarez. Charlo will also be moving up two weight classes to take up the fight against the pound-for-pound king. Moreover, the Undisputed Champion in the Super Welterweight division will be fighting to become the next Undisputed Champion in the Super Middleweight division.

So it’s quite a defining moment for the Lafayette-born orthodox boxer. Well, many predictions are flying around the arena, talking about how the anticipated fight will go down. Recently, the renowned Boxing champion, Shawn Porter has voiced his opinion about the fight.

Shawn Porter was asked about his thoughts in a recent interview with ESNEWS. Well, at first he stated that it’s a great matchup, and then started analyzing both the opponents, where he declared at the very beginning, “I think Canelo’s going to win that fight.” Then, moved on to say that Alvarez has every card in his hands, and Charlo can only win in one aspect of the game.

He continued, “I think there’s one thing going Jermell’s side, I believe in it, I think it’s a long shot, but he has timing that is unseen. You don’t know when that right hand is coming, but let’s be honest you can’t rely on the right hand all night, it’s Canelo Alvarez.” Well, even Alvarez has recently talked about the “biggest weapon” that Charlo possesses currently. Anyway, Porter remained brutally honest about his pick and shared it with the boxing fans. However, a guest on Porter’s podcast had a different opinion than him.

Malik Scott has a different opinion than Porter about Alvarez-Charlo

In one of the recent episodes of The Porter Way Podcast, where Malik Scott appeared as the guest, he gave out his raw opinions about the upcoming fight between ‘Cinnamon’ and ‘Iron Man’. Well, during that conversation, Scott praises the stubbornness of Charlo, and how he’s somewhat of a hunger inside himself.

Scott said, “When the going gets tough, and the tough get going, [Jermell Charlo] always get tougher to me.” Moreover, he stated that he has never seen Charlo folding under pressure, he always keeps his cool and performs as calmly as possible. Besides that, he believes Charlo would be put to test against Alvarez. Simultaneously, he said, “But I think he could pass the test with flying colors, I truly do.”
