The organizers of Saturday night’s contest at the Manchester Arena nailed it when they had to name the event. Named “Unleashed,” the event saw Liverpudlian Liam “Beefy” Smith thrash former world champion and legend Chris Eubank’s son Eubank Jr. But that was inside the ring.

Last year, on February 26, at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, thirty-two-year-old Scotsman Josh Taylor met Lancastrian Jack Catterall. The former won via split decision. However, the decision drew scathing criticisms from all corners. Most felt that the Englishman was the worthy winner of the bout. ‘Worldboxingnews.net’ termed it the “biggest robbery in the history of British boxing”.

By next month it will be one year since the Glasgow fight. But its shadows seem to loom, at least over the belligerents.

When Josh Taylor ‘Unleashed’ at Jack Catterall

Taylor and Catterall were present at Saturday’s Eubank Jr. versus Smith fight. Presumably peeved by the Englishman’s presence in the arena, the Scotsman lunged towards the latter. The two sat on the same row but separated by three seats. Thankfully, the security and others present, including the BOXXER founder Ben Shalom intervened on time before things got off hand.

Michael Benson, the online boxing editor of ‘talkSPORT,’ shared the half-minute-long clip through his Twitter handle. He said, “Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall having to be separated by security while ringside at Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Smith.”

Soon fans started commenting on the brouhaha.

Fans react to Taylor having a go at Catterall

@Erick_714_ was clear that “The Tartan Tornado” would win the rematch against “El Gato.”

@TomStirk1992 seemed surprised that Taylor could move so swiftly despite an injured foot.

Apparently, a rematch between the two was supposed to take place on March 4 this year. However, with the onset of the injury, the future of the much-anticipated face-off remains unclear.

@BigRabOnTheSet, like @TomStirk1992, sounded a bit alarmed. According to him, it appeared that Taylor’s foot functioned normally there.

@Seenedavid voiced a similar concern and said, “Shocked he didn’t hurt himself getting up.”

@theonlybatfan, seemingly a Josh Taylor fan or with an intentional pun, mentioned – the last thing Taylor would want is for Catterall to get beaten up again!

@boxingfan1314 vouched for the Englishman, saying that the next battle Taylor is in, he will get smacked around again.

Finally, @PearceJoshJP is eagerly anticipating the next bout. According to him, “El Gato” will prevail this time despite the ridiculousness of the previous set of scorecards.
