Devin Haney is making a strategic move up in weight with the aim of securing a two-division world champion title. In this pursuit, he has set his sights on the 140-pound division, specifically targeting Regis Prograis, whom some perceive as the least formidable among the four champions in that weight class. However, Prograis believes he will do a lot of damage to the former undisputed lightweight champion.
Prograis, at 34, faced scrutiny in his recent bout against Danielito Zorrilla last June. This was an encounter where he narrowly avoided a potential upset against an opponent expected to be easily dominated. This time, however, he’s the most ready he’s ever been and has even admitted to breaking the jaw of his sparring partner.

Regis Prograis talks about his fight with Devin Haney
In a recent interview with ESNEWS, Regis Prograis declared that he broke his sparring partner’s jaw using big gloves and headgear. After the revelation, the reporter asked the boxer about the outcome of his fight with Devin Haney, which would involve no headgear and smaller gloves. The answer Prograis gave was definitely not in favor of ‘The Dream’.
Prograis stated, “Something bad bro. Something bad gonna happen.” Then he revealed the actual size of the gloves that he used in that particular sparring fight. He enunciated, “If I hit him with that same s**t, I gotta say you heard what I heard too and that’s with 16 ounces and a headgear.” So, there’s no doubt that Prograis is coming in with a murderous frenzy and it’d be interesting to see if this bloodlust helps him against the man who’s overcome George Kambosos Jr and Vasyl Lomachenko.
Prograis is desperate to win this bout because he understands the importance of it. If he defeats Haney, he not only retains his title, but at the same time, he’ll also find his way to the pinnacle of the sport.
