WBO Super Light Champion Teofimo Lopez has his next stint in the ring sorted and he is now offering his fans an opportunity to make some insane bucks. On the 8th of February, ‘The Takeover’ will enter the Michelob Ultra Arena of Las Vegas in a bid to defend his titles against the challenge of his 27-year-old opponent, Jamaine Ortiz.
Joining the 10-round super-entertainer weekend card is a co-headliner between Keyshawn Davis and Jose Pedraza. While the boxing world has remained on its feet for this exciting clash, in a recent social media communication, Lopez urged his fans to take the bet on him.

A Kind Offer from Teofimo Lopez
With just a little over a month left for the 20th fight of his career, the 26-year-old, Nevada-based fighter wrote a plea of sorts to his fans, coupled with a massive money-earning opportunity for them. In an X post, he asked his fans who need money to take a chance on him and possibly earn triple the sum. He wrote, “If you really need money! Triple down on me come February 8th.”

Last year in June, Lopez grabbed a stronghold of his weight class after he defeated Josh Taylor in a 12-round fight, with all judges scoring unanimously in his favor. However, the victory was still rooted in the shadow of a turbulent few years he’s had in the sport.
In December 2019, he captured the IBF lightweight belt by defeating Richard Comey in the 2nd round via a technical knockout. Less than a year later, he snatched the WBA superlight and WBO light belts from Vasyl Lomachenko’s grasp via UD. However, in the following year, he’d lose his titles to George Kombosos Jr. Starting all over again, a year later, he made his way to the top of super lightweight by defeating Pedro Campa via a 7th round TKO to claim the WBO title.
Now, as he defends the title for the third time around, he revealed his confidence about the upcoming bout.
From Amateur to Professional, the Takeover and Technician reignite competition
In 2015, the Takeover defeated his upcoming opponent, Jamaine Ortiz, to move ahead in the running for the US National Golden Gloves Gold, Las Vegas (60 Kg). Almost 9-years later, they will meet again, now in the professional ranks.

Drawing from such experience, Lopez, who currently holds the Ring Magazine Title in super lightweight, noted to the magazine, “Jamaine is tough. I would know, because I faced him back in the amateur days in 2015 for the National Golden Gloves Championship. I’ll show the world that champions don’t flinch when faced with challenges. They rise and shine the brightest when the stakes are highest. This one is for all my people on the Takeover Express! Let’s show the world once again what real boxing looks like.”
For Ortiz, the seven-year pro, it’s his biggest fight yet. “This is the most important fight of my career. It’s my first world title bout. I believe this fight will bring out the very best in me, and I’m looking forward to coming home as the new champion!”
