Ahead of the title defense against Jamaine Ortiz, Teofimo Lopez reiterated that DAZN cut Eddie Hearn’s budget for a reason. Earlier, ‘The Takeover’ took to X and declared that DAZN Boxing would be “done soon enough“. After Lopez’s statement, Eddie Hearn claimed that Teofimo Lopez, a “completely obsessed” person in his language, was frustrated because he lost to George Kambosos Jr on Hearn’s show. However, regardless, Lopez continued to jab Hearn.

Ahead of the fight on February 8th, Teofimo Lopez bemoaned that boxing lost Showtime and HBO. “We lost our Twin Towers, we did. We lost Showtime and HBO. Boxing is on its way out,” said Lopez. Along these lines, he said, “DAZN Boxing is about to be done. They had to cut Eddie Hearn’s budget. DAZN said, ‘You’re not giving us what we’re asking for. We gave you a s**t tonne of money. And we still haven’t seen that back, Eddie Hearn.

And they cut [his budget]. He [Hearn] said, ‘I have to cut fighters now’. And it’s like, yeah, you have to cut fighters because you guys don’t know how to promote. You ain’t no good promoter,” Lopez added. At this point, while Eddie Hearn has yet to reply to Lopez’s latest claims, it is worth noticing how the promoter earlier responded to Teofimo.

Hearn believes Lopez’s views on DAZN boxing are biased

In an interview with Michelle Phelps, Eddie Hearn called Teofimo Lopez a strange person. As per Hearn’s statements, Lopez’s views on DAZN boxing were biased because he believed DAZN played a significant role in his defeat to George Kambosos Jr. in 2021. “It all comes down to the fact that he lost to George Kambosas on my show. After that show, he [Lopez] said, ‘If that was a Top Rank show, I would have won that fight, that was a stitch-up from Matchroom and DAZN. They wanted me to lose,’” stated Hearn.
