Sometimes, you need to thank lady luck. It is fine till you flaunt a Jake Paul t-shirt alone. But, in front of a red-haired Mexican, too good with punches, probably the best there is, and inside the ring?

Getting away scot-free from a Canelo Alvarez with few expletives; sometimes a million thanks may be insufficient.

An old video of Canelo instructing his team member to remove a person wearing a t-shirt with Jake Paul’s photo has resurfaced.

Canelo is mouthing off swear words at the poor soul, who probably wanted to have fun at the champion’s expense. Or, likely, he should have picked another boxer to play Jake Paul with.

The entire sequence lasts for slightly more than ten seconds. But that was enough to send the whole Canelo brigade into the Twitter zone, clattering their shields and swords.

Most couldn’t just believe what that person did and, on top of that, lived to see another day!

Canelo’s reaction stole the show.

It is surprising how the awkward scenario played out in front of so many.

Even after two years, some eyewitnesses roll over with laughter.

Canelo Alvarez versus Avni Yildrim

He had barely dusted the sands of victory over Callum Smith on 19th December 2020 at Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. But come February the following year, he was set to face a challenger from far-away Turkey.

Now, thirty-one years old, Avni Yildirim was contesting the Mexican for his WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring (Super) Middleweight title.

But it seems for the Turkish boxer, nicknamed the Wolf and Mr. Robot, the challenge had fallen out of the window on the way to Texas.

To avoid a sinister end, smarting up, the Turk’s corner threw in the towel by the third round.

Right from the time of its announcement, the fight drew its share of criticism. Signs of a mismatched battle were standing out a mile away. However, Alvarez was adamant about proceeding with it to retain the WBC title.

No point in guessing; the poor Turk could manage only 11 punches against the Alvarez juggernaut.

The Mickey Mouse fight will now be remembered more as a phantom escapade. On second thought, Avni and the unknown party crasher were lucky to escape ‘the Alvarez punishment’. What do you think?
