WBC Light Welterweight Champion Regis Prograis made his observations on the Tyson Fury–Francis Ngannou bout public early today. However, soon he found himself at the receiving end of fans’ displeasure. Most were unhappy with the WBC champion scoring a close victory over the former UFC Heavyweight champion. To the utter shock of many, the latter even knocked down the boxing champion in the third round.
Now, followers chided Prograis, taking up the split decision victory he scored over Danielito Zorrilla. On June 17, the former fought the Puerto Rican in New Orleans during his first title defense. Calling the Fury-Ngannou bout total rubbish, ‘Rougarou’ said it failed to meet his expectations. But whatever the outcome, in his eyes, Francis Ngannou would win the contest.

Without hesitation, this user stated that Devin Haney would give him a sound thrashing when they meet in December, just like Francis Ngannou went against Fury, irrespective of the outcome.

The next user highlighted that he saw better entertainment in the Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou fight than Prograis’ title defense against Danielito Zorrilla, which was one of the worst fights the user had ever seen.

The following fan also touched base with the June 17 fight. They pointed out whether Regis Prograis forgot how Zorilla sent him down to the canvas during their battle.

This fan also took up the last title defense against Zorilla and highlighted how dejected they all felt when the final decision favored Regis Prograis. Precisely the way the New Orleans-born southpaw felt upon Ngannou’s loss.
That’s how we felt when you got the decision your last fight

For the following user, the Fury-Ngannou bout was way better than his recent bouts. Otherwise, most of Prograis’ other matches were all garbage.

While two judges scored in his favor, 118-109 and 117-110, the third remaining judge felt the Puerto Rican stood better and awarded him 114-113. After the fight, Regis Prograis admitted that he could have done better. However, at the end of the day, he got to retain the belt.

Title Defense: Round Two
But the New Orleans-born southpaw’s biggest test comes on December 9, when he meets undefeated champion Devin Haney—standing an inch taller and with a hand reach extending to 71 inches, as against Prograis’ 67, the unified Lightweight champion is ten years older than the latter’s thirty-four. Speaking to the media, ‘Rougarou’ made it clear that he intends to ‘hurt’ Haney. However, whether ‘The Dream’ will permit such a venture, time alone will tell.
Haney approaches Prograis as the first target to be dropped in the 140-pound division. Talks are on about him going after the IBF champion, Subriel Matias. But Haney’s real test will be when he goes against in-form Teofimo Lopez and Rolando Romero.
