Rolly Romero once again entered the spotlight recently after he was challenged by boxing sensation Ryan Garcia for a title bout. Garcia, after achieving an easy victory over Oscar Duarte, took the chance to call out the WBA Lightweight champion. In response, Romero too appeared confident as he fired back at ‘Super RY. However, just when it looked like the two were going to finally face one another, a statement from Romero dashed all hopes of any potential fight.
Romero boldly claimed that Garcia didn’t deserve to fight him and that he didn’t want to fight in the 140 category anymore. He shared his plan to move up in weight and fight the big names there. As a testament to his claims, recently a video of him showing off his might was shared by boxing reporter Elie Seckbach. Romero landed a barrage of punches on a heavy bag, which ended up dropping down. Seckbach posted the video on Instagram, writing, “@rolliesss has power like a 175 pounder 🔥🔥🔥 drops a heavybag something you rarely see @teofimolopez”.

Another fan didn’t find anything impressive about the heavy bag falling. He wrote, “I’ll never understand why people connect a heavybag falling with having power.” Meanwhile, a fan gave reasoning as to what might be the reason for the bag falling down. He claimed, “The clips give out over time due to constant hits and tension this happens in all gyms even if a kid hits it”.
Someone else pointed out, “That was already loose lol the bolt fell out”. Another fan claimed that Ryan Garcia would be able to defeat Romero if the two fought one another. He also wrote, “Bro what the hell is wrong with this clip? If they really wanted to make him look good, they should’ve chosen some clip, those punches looked rather sloppy. Garcia will punish this fool…”.
Overall, fans were not impressed with Romero’s boxing skills, despite Seckbach’s opinion regarding him.
Regis Prograis blasts Rolly Romero and mulls over a potential fight
As he prepares to face Devin Haney to defend his title, Regis Prograis took the chance to blast Rolly Romero on his performance against Ismael Borroso. Prograis, not one to hold back, criticized Romero’s performance, emphasizing Barroso’s age. In an interview, he stated, “He got his ass whooped by an old ass man. That man [Barroso] was 50-something [years old] for sure. He was old as sh!t.”

Despite his reservations, Prograis acknowledged the allure of Romero’s newly acquired belt. “I wouldn’t want to fight Rolly, but I would now that he does have a belt. It would be an easy ass belt to pick up,” Prograis remarked. However, he emphasized his focus on legacy, money, and significant bouts.
