Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has for a long while ruled over the hearts of his fans. The fighter in his 17th year in the pro boxing league demands a sense of respect and adoration that most boxers of his time have failed to amass. A true spirit of resilience and dedication, the fighter first entered the ring as a professional boxer in the year 2005. A feat of being crowned as a world champion in four weight classes, Canelo Alvarez has led the way in redefining how fighters navigate through their careers.

The 33-year-old has become the face of representation on a global platform for the place he comes from. A Mexican fighter bringing the name and accolades to his heritage, Mexican fans have often found someone they could look up to whenever the fighter entered the ring to only leave it victorious. Still riding high on his noteworthy victory over John Ryder, Alvarez will go against Jermell Charlo on 30th September. Alvarez grew up in a tight-knit family of ten on the outskirts of Guadalajara, Mexico. However, with freckles and red hair, the fighter had to defend himself right from his childhood. Canelo said, “I had freckles and was a redhead, so I fought every day.” However, in his formative years, he also learned a lot more that pushed his boxing career to an era of greatness.

Taking to his social media, Canelo posted an image mirroring his present to the days of his childhood. The Mexican fighter can be seen in a yellow t-shirt, and white shorts in both the images. The only difference? The little Saul Alvarez had dreams in his eyes, and the older Canelo further fulfilled them. He captioned the post, “some things never change…”

Another fan implied there remained very few changes in how the fighter looked, specifically speaking of the innocence on his face. The user commented, “Just like now, the face looks very innocent.” But the pertinent question is where does this innocence go when the fighter enters the ring?

Further, a fan took a philosophical approach to gather his praises for Canelo. He said, “He who had no childhood because he was born big!”

A fan rightly accounted for the visibility the fighter has brought to his origin country of Mexico. The user commented, “Canelo you are the best representing Mexico.”
