Gervonta Davis, a rising boxing star, has gained attention from rivals after his April victory over Ryan Garcia, which was considered the biggest commercial fight of the year. The fight generated over 1 million pay-per-view buys, solidifying Davis’ status as a box office draw. Davis remains confident in his abilities and is determined to continue his rise to superstardom in boxing.

‘Tank’ and Garcia had a great fight in the seventh round of their 136lbs catchweight bout, and their feud has finally come to an end. Garcia believes that he can bring even bigger fights than Davis and that other fighters will need him for more significant bouts in the future. Taking a dig at Davis, he once stated, “I can make way bigger fights than [Davis] than he can make by himself. So he’s going to have to see me for the money because he likes money. He should be thanking me. I just blessed him with around $30 million.”  Even though the April fight was lucrative, Garcia thinks that Davis should recognize the financial boost he received too. Meanwhile,  Davis has hinted at his plans for this year while also taking a friendly jab at his recent opponent.

Ryan Garcia demands a rematch with fair rules

Despite a previous encounter, the 25-year-old Garcia expressed a desire for a rematch with Davis under more favorable conditions. Garcia contends that Davis, unwilling to fight on level terms, lacks the spirit of an old-school fighter. “This guy will never fight anybody at a fair thing. He just won’t. He won’t chance it. He really doesn’t have that dog in him.” said Garcia. Reflecting on their prior bout, Garcia considers it less of a true contest and more of a mismatch.

Despite Davis dropping him twice, Garcia attributes his lackluster performance to a period of lesser commitment to the sport. Now, refocused and targeting the super lightweight division, he aims to become a champion at 140 pounds. Garcia envisions a rematch with Davis, asserting that he is now a better and more dedicated fighter, poised for success in the ring.
