The long-awaited showdown between welterweight prospects Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. might just become a possibility after all the drama surrounding this fight. With Eubank’s rematch against Liam Smith postponed for the second time, speculation has arisen that he might turn his attention back to a fight with Benn.

Despite the scheduled bout between the two being canceled due to Benn’s positive drug tests last year, it seems that Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn is ready to make this fight a reality. Moreover, this comes after the British boxer was cleared of any wrongdoing and reinstated as a boxer.

Eddie Hearn wants to book Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr.

In a recent interview with Behind The Gloves. the promoter gave some insights into Benn’s future. While he claimed that Benn was interested in facing Manny Pacquiao, the latter was too expensive. He then revealed that his focus right now was to book the Eubank Jr. fight and also mentioned some other opponents for ‘The Destroyer’.

“Manny Pacquiao is definitely looking for a fight, and Conor Benn is up for that fight again. Manny Pacquiao has his demands if you like, and he’s expensive, and rightfully so. He’s a legend. But you know, the focus for us is Eubank right now, for me anyway. I mean, there’s Kell Brook, there’s Manny Pacquiao. I think Thurman is a great fight for him in America as well. But I want to make the Eubank [fight] you know. It feels like there’s a lot of unfinished business, and it’s a massive fight,” he said.

Pacquiao, who is currently 44 years old wants to make a return to boxing. Moreover, his manager recently revealed ‘PacMan’s’ interest in facing Benn, which was not well received by fans. In addition, Hearn feels like the Eubank Jr. fight is the one to make as its abrupt cancelation left fans hanging the first time. However, Benn seemingly wants to face some other contender, now that his fame has shot significantly.

Benn reveals who he would like to face next

The welterweight contender took to social media and responded to a fan asking him his next opponent. Benn then revealed that he would like to face former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman or current champion Errol Spence Jr. “Thurman, then Spence,”  he said when asked about his next opponent.

However, before Benn can pursue those lofty goals he needs to get some wins in the division to get into a fight with the former champions. Moreover, both Spence and Thurman are promoted by Al Haymon‘s PBC Promotions which is a direct rival to Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. It seems that both Hearn and Benn have some different opinions on how to move forward but they will surely figure out a way to book the best fight for Benn at this point.
