On X, previously known as Twitter, Garcia stated, “My intent now is to fight Rolando Romero.” He emphasized the bout’s significance, saying it’s “bigger business.” Garcia further justified his decision by suggesting that facing Haney later would be even more impactful. This shift in Garcia’s plan contradicts his earlier stance. Oscar De La Hoya, Garcia’s promoter, had previously indicated negotiations for a Haney-Garcia bout to be held in March.

However, Garcia’s recent decision now shows a change in direction. Surprisingly, due to this, Floyd Mayweather has found himself targeted by fans as he is getting blamed for this move from the boxer. Recently, he and Garcia were seen training together, leading fans to believe that Mayweather was mentoring him in the ways of the business. So is Mayweather to be blamed for Garcia’s change in decision?

Fans blast Mayweather over the surprising news

Social media was abuzz with reactions, suggesting Mayweather’s involvement in the decision. One fan suggested Mayweather’s involvement in the relationship between Garcia and De La Hoya souring. He wrote, “Floyd Mayweather sewing more seeds of discord between Ryan Garcia & Oscar De La Hoya longest standing rivalry in Boxing is Floyd-Oscar…”.

Another fan quickly added, “Floyd mayweather definitely knocked some sense into you and told you that Devin was going to cook you.”

Meanwhile, a fan seemed convinced of Mayweather’s strategic maneuvers, stating, “This is a Floyd Mayweather Play right here.”

Someone else stated with conviction, “Floyd Mayweather is what happened.”

Moreover, a fan claimed, “Floyd Mayweather playing chess with these younger fighters ,high key backdoored Haney to make his fight options to Tank or low pay day fighting Hitchins.”

Another fan chimed in a similar fashion claiming, “that’s that floyd Mayweather advice.”

A fan went as far as to call Mayweather, “the worst thing to ever happen to the sport of boxing.”
