Gervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz will fight each other for the WBA (Super) super featherweight and WBA (Regular) lightweight title on October 31. The event will bring back fans into the arena; thus it has already been at the center of talks throughout the week.
However, several other boxing events are happening on the same day, which will provide steady competition to Showtime’s event. That said, Davis vs Santa Cruz is still the most stellar event, inclusive of a world title headliner.
The other two events are Matchroom’s Dereck Chisora vs Oleksandr Usyk and Top Rank’s Inoue vs Moloney. All the promotions have promoted their PPVs to the fullest and are confident ahead of this weekend’s clash. Meanwhile, Top Rank’s CEO Bob Arum has recently passed a statement where he ranked the Inoue vs Moloney over the Davis vs Santa Cruz fight.

It might seem bizarre to a lot of fans since Top Rank doesn’t have massive star power in their upcoming card. Moreover, Showtime is bringing two of the world champions together to stage an epic event. However, Bob Arum still pointed out some facts to demean Showtime’s upcoming effort.
Bob Arum curb the popularity of the Gervonta Davis vs Leo Santa Cruz fight
During an interaction with Badlefthook.com, Bob Arum pointed at the differences of PPV rates to overpower Top Rank over Showtime. Fans have to pay a premium price for tuning into Davis vs Santa Cruz fight, and ESPN is offering a year-long subscription for $49.99. Thus, Arum said, “Ours, you do have to be a subscriber. They are gonna do no business.”

He added, “It’s not because it’s not a good fight, but asking people to pay that during the pandemic, it’s ridiculous. The only way pay-per-view works, for forever, is when you can get a bunch of people over your house.”
