Two more weeks later, after a break of nearly eight months, Teofimo Lopez would enter the ring again on February 8. He will defend his title from old foe Jamaine Ortiz at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. The light welterweight champion is in no mood to take the fight lightly, leaving no stone unturned to allow Ortiz any chance to stage an upset.

‘The Takeover’ is among those few who strongly believe in the adage: bleed more in training to bleed less in war. Hence, he is giving his all to stay strong and fit and, at the same time, agile to thwart the skilled Ortiz’s attacks. Early today, through his Instagram handle, he shared a short video. The post read, “It’s not a meal; It’s a MINDSET.”  It was apparent the fans were simply swooned over by the champion.

Last month, Boxing Science even picked ‘The Takeover’ as their subject, studying his strength and conditioning methods. During the introduction, they said, “(Teofimo Lopez) got some fantastic physical attributes: speed, power, explosiveness, he can do the 12 rounds, he’s got a fantastic physique, going to be really interesting taking a look at his training methods to see how he prepares for competition…

The best part is that his fitness regimen is not restricted to staying only physically fit. It involves evolving a superior frame of mind as well. One of the greatest assets that Lopez could boast of is his ability to stay focused. A couple of days ago, in an apparent message to all upcoming boxers, he revealed how he didn’t allow himself to get distracted from his goal for a long duration.

No wonder the fans find his footage of his training regimen so infectious. They simply couldn’t stop themselves from commenting.

The Takeover Express is coming

Perhaps it’s Lopez’s natural athletic abilities that stand out the most. To quite a few fans, it stood as a metaphor for something they envisioned.

Urging Teofimo Lopez to carry on regardless, the following user stated that most people don’t know anything about him. They said, “Let’s go, champ; they don’t know you, champ!” Then this follower admired the light welterweight champion’s sharp intellect and unpredictable talent, as well as his ability to perform in the most natural and effortless manner. “Witty, unpredictable talent and natural game,” said the follower.

Probably the footage thrilled the fan to such an extent that Teofimo Lopez reminded this fan of a rampaging train: “CRAZY TRAIN!! The Takeover Express is coming.” On the other hand, this fan found a resemblance with Sylvester Stallone’s iconic ‘Rocky.’ They said, “Teo, you are the peoples champ, just like Rocky. Thank you for saving boxing.” Finally, goading ‘The Takeover’ to enjoy his time training, the following fan seems to have been immensely impressed by the boxer’s overall outlook and sheer prowess in boxing. “The mindset! With supernatural skillset. Have fun, young champion!” The fan said.

Teofimo Lopez clearly knows where his heart and mind rest. As far as die-hard fans are concerned, he will sail through the next month’s Ortiz test. But they also want to see him get into bigger fights. Given his skill and talent, a boxer like him deserves a significant stage. A grand event to showcase his abilities. Hopefully, fans will get to see one in the months to come.
