On the 13th of January, Artur Beterbiev shared the ring with Callum Smith with his unified Heavyweight title on the line. Ahead of the fight, since Beterbiev’s VADA tests had atypical findings, Smith and others questioned Beterbiev’s sincerity. However, Beterbiev stayed strong and he not only knocked Smith down for the first time but also won the contest via TKO.
Only yesterday, VADA took to X, and after further investigation, congratulated Beterbiev on passing his tests. In the wake of this incident, the 39-year-old took to social media and shared a photo from his fight with Smith. In doing so, he revealed that the learning continues even after putting up such a dominant performance.

The main reason Beterbiev keeps succeeding in the ring is that he remains a student of the sport despite his achievements. Against Callum Smith, there were several occasions when the Canadian boxer left the spectators impressed. For example, in the first round itself, with his tall guard, Beterbiev closed in on the distance and hit Smith with a 10-punch combination before the bell rang. His stance, ability to see gaps, and fluidity were impressive. However, when Beterbiev watched the recording of his fight, he was not completely satisfied with his performance.

Thus, taking to Instagram, Beterbiev wrote, “Always after the fight, my team and I analyze our work.” “We watched this fight several times and now it seems to us that a lot of things in the ring could have been done better – in some cases not to miss, in others to catch a blow. Thanks to Smith and his team for putting up a good fight. Overall, everything went well,” he added. With that said, one must conclude that Beterbiev is a critic of his own work. As a result, he is able to update his game from time to time.
