Floyd Mayweather found his haven inside a boxing gym situated in Grand Rapids at a very early age. This is how the story of the flawless 50-0 record began, and at the start of his career, Mayweather had that hunger to escape his poor and insufferable reality. In his heart, he was still the kid with pockets full of his favorite cookies and sweet candies from a convenience store, standing in front of The Pride Gym. He knew he always wanted to touch the apex, so he stepped inside the ring and took on grown men to hone his skills as a boxer.

Through his immense work ethic, he didn’t only manage to remain undefeated throughout his career, in fact, he even became the richest boxer in the whole world. Mayweather, despite being from a poor background, paved the way to call himself a billionaire. Well, even at the current age of 46, he is not able to discard his passion for boxing. And in an old interview with REVOLT, Mayweather explained how his older persona, ‘Money Mayweather’ differed from his younger one, ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’.

He said, “When I was ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’, I was actively fighting all the time, every couple of months. So I stay in the gym, I stay fighting. I’m in the flow, so I could throw punches. You know tear motherf*ker a* up. Then when I got older, you know I’m still wise. I can tear your a** up but in a different way.” The boxing fans heard these claims, and many opposed this thought of the process of ‘Money’, while some stood in his support.

Another fan, Ernest Bracewell, pitched in with the same intention, as they wrote, “He realized that as he moved up in weight – the fighter were still quick but they hit way harder, he wouldn’t of been able to go toe to toe with a lot of them boxers. I give em props, he mastered the Philly Shuffle.

Joe Meyerowitz stated that young Mayweather had power in all the three divisions he fought, but on the other hand, the older Mayweather relies on his skills and defensive techniques more. They wrote, “Pretty boy had power at 130 135 140 Money May had to rely on Skills and winning decisions.
