Despite having won all eight bouts of his professional career, Tommy Fury’s name picked up steam for reasons not entirely of his making.

The TNT started his boxing career in his hometown, Manchester, in 2018. He won the first fight against Latvian Jevgenijs Andrejevs. After winning the subsequent two contests, he decided to take a break from boxing and venture into the entertainment industry. Molly-Mae Hague, who later became his real-life partner, and Fury participated in the reality show Love Island as a pair.

Fury took up the gloves again and fought Lithuania-born, fellow British boxer Genadij Krajevskij on November 13th, 2020. Winning the bout through a second-round knockout, talks commenced for a showdown with the American YouTuber and social influencer, Jake Paul.

Tommy Fury Vs Jake Paul

The two were already having noticeable beef over the net for some time. It all started when Tyson, in support of Tommy, celebrated the latter’s win over Scott Williams. An intervening Jake Paul rebuffed the elder Fury’s claims on the number of people who viewed Tommy’s match. Provoked, Tyson goaded the YouTuber to fight his brother.

Amidst claims, counterclaims, and spiteful ranting, the announcement of their first fight on December 18th, 2021 came about. But, unfortunately, by the time their face-off gained some traction, news that Tommy wouldn’t be able to make it because of a chest infection or rib injury blew in.

Unhappy and indignant, Jake Paul denounced the British camp, “It is official, Tommy Fury is boxing’s biggest b****. He has pulled out of the fight, the Furys have pulled out of the fight due to a medical condition. Who knows what the f*** is going on in that camp – I think he has a bad case of puss-itis. I couldn’t believe the news at first, still doesn’t even seem real. He fumbled the biggest bag of his life.”

“Now he will be watching at home and paying me $60 instead of getting paid millions of dollars to fight me. I’ve fought with a broken nose, I’ve fought sick, get the f*** over it, this is boxing. It’s official, he was scared.”

While the match didn’t take place, the rivalry only increased.

Tommy Fury Vs Jake Paul II

Probably a curse loomed over; their second meet in August this year caved in when it became clear that Tommy Fury would not visit the US due to a visa mix-up. A furious Paul confirmed the cancellation over Twitter and stated that the TNT “literally went into hiding.”

A third match?

Ever since, both have moved on. While Jake Paul scored a fabled win over former UFC champion Anderson Silva, Fury will meet Paul Bamba after beating Paul’s training partners Anthony Taylor and Daniel Bocianski.

That has kept fans and critics from speculating about a third match between the bitter rivals. But, aside from the conspicuous diatribe, neither side appears to be sure, and the suspense continues.

In a recent clip, when asked for his opinion on the presence of his rival during the Bamba fight, Tommy replied, “Hey I’am not interested in who’s there. There could be a million Jake Pauls at the ringside. My mind is laser focused on Paul Bamba, getting him out of the way.”

“And then I’ll jump out the ringside and slap him in the face. And so I’am not really bothered about Jake Paul or KSI and whoever there would be because a lot of boys, really a lot of men, that’s what it is.”
