Is Joseph Parker the new face of the heavyweight class? With his stellar victory over Deontay Wilder last night, there can be no arguments about the prowess he brings to the ring. Confirming these assumptions is coach, Kristian Blacklock who congratulated Parker for beating up “dossers.”

Last night’s Day of Reckoning card at Riyadh saw Parker inch toward victory with much ease against his hard-hitting opponent. Staying strong on his intuitive strategy, the Kiwi fighter remained out of Wilder’s range of devastating power and in turn scored a big upset on scores of 118-111, 118-110, and 120-108. Now, as the world collectively rejoices in what he accomplished last night, one of his ardent supporters, Blacklock too congratulated him for his “dominant performance.”

Joseph Parker gets love from Tyson Fury’s coach

Kristian Blacklock, the strength and conditioning coach of WBC champion, Tyson Fury praised the 31-year-old Parker for what he had managed to do last night. Flipping predictions that saw him as the underdog, Parker had not only defeated Wilder but had shown the world that he is made of what elite fighters are made of. As soon as the results were in, and the arena stood in a gasp of shock, the Liverpool-based coach posted an image of Parker on his Instagram story. Encapsulating the historic moment Parker climbed the ropes as the victor, Blacklock wrote, “Yes what a dominant performance!”

Later on, throwing shade at Wilder, he storied a picture with Tyson Fury, and the man of the night, Parker. He wrote, “Me and the 2 guys who beat up dossers.” They’re allowed to have the victory laugh, given it is Fury and Parker, the only two fighters who have given the ‘Bronze Bomber’ defeats in his career. Both the Fury vs. Wilder fights that happened in 2020 and 2021 saw ‘Gypsy King’ going home victorious via knockouts. Now, Parker has added a third loss to Wilder’s 47-fights-career.

The coach’s victory lap did not end there. In the morning, as he received a call from Parker, he posted a screengrab of it. He further noted, “The best call I had this morning! We all love this man he is a true gentleman and showed everyone what a fighter he is last night.”

Tyson Fury too joined his coach in congratulating Parker for defeating the Bronze Bomber.

Gypsy King nods at Parker’s win

It was with Fury’s guidance that Parker prepared for perhaps the biggest fight of his career. Earlier, he had revealed the tips and suggestions Fury had given him, leading to the Riyadh fight. Acknowledging the support he received from the world champion, Parker in a post-fight interview remarked, “Tyson Fury gave us his time with sparring and was massively important.”

While Fury did not have elaborate words to celebrate his mate’s spectacular win, he however sent a subtle nod Parker’s way. Gypsy King storied a post from ESPN that announced, “JOSEPH PARKER UPSETS DEONTAY WILDER.”

Parker’s win is one for the books. He did not just defeat one of the best heavyweights of this era, but he also disrupted the much-awaited Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua fight, which was to happen only if Wilder and AJ won their respective clashes last night. What a mark to leave on the Day of Reckoning, right?
