If John Fury has his way, he’d fight Logan Paul. That too on the undercard of his son, Tommy Fury, and Logan’s brother, The Problem Child, Jake Paul! Claiming that Tommy no longer wanted to fight Jake, reportedly, the WWE star’s constant hassle irked the Fury family patriarch. Cut to the present, and it seems things have moved on, though whether for better or worse, only time will tell. In a major development, Team Fury, specifically Tyson and Tommy’s father, John Fury, spoke about the long-anticipated rematch with Jake Paul.

It’s been over two years since the scion of the Fury family and the YouTuber-turned-boxer met in their much-hyped clash at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia. The American lost that bout. Things thereafter moved in entirely different directions. After fending off challenges from former champions like Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Jake Paul now sits comfortably as a cruiserweight contender, eagerly anticipating his exhibition with lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. Tommy Fury, on the other hand, hasn’t enjoyed the same success one might have expected.

Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul 2: Fresh talks heat up

Reporters caught up with Big John Fury after the Joseph Parker-Fabio Wardley fight. For those who know, Tyson Fury’s second cousin, Andy Lee, happens to be Parker’s trainer. So an iFL TV reporter dropped a question about Tommy Fury. After the KSI fight in October 2023, the 26-year-old returned in May to face unheralded Kenan Hanjalic in Hungary.

John Fury responded, “Well, we’re trying to do what we can. You know, we’re looking at Jake Paul too shortly.” Shedding further light, Fury Senior explained the situation. “We are trying to dot a few I’s and cross a few T’s. I have given them a number; let’s see if they can meet it. If they don’t meet the number… f*** off,” he stated.

However, it appears that somewhere deep down, the 2023 loss to Tommy Fury still lingers with Jake Paul.

Jake Paul says he’s more than ready for the Fury showdown

In the lead-up to the Chavez Jr. bout, he sat for an in-depth interview with Ariel Helwani. Sharing that he had watched Tommy Fury’s fight with Kenan Hanjalic, Paul said, “Man, I just can’t wait to get back in there with this guy.” He added, “Because in the past three years, right, I fought him after two years of being a pro boxer. Now, it’s been 3 years since then, and it’s just night and day. And he hasn’t gotten any better, right?

According to the Cleveland native, despite having boxed since the age of six, Tommy Fury hasn’t shown much improvement in the ring. Whereas, he’s progressed to an entirely different level. He made it clear he definitely wants a rematch with Tyson Fury’s brother.

When Helwani asked about a tentative timeline for the rematch, Jake Paul replied that it could happen within the next 12 months. Paul couldn’t resist taking another jab at Tommy Fury’s career. Unlike him, Tommy has been through a rough patch.

So maybe the Englishman needs the rematch more than the American does. With record-breaking gates and viewership, Paul’s events are now confirmed sellouts. He might well have set a new standard for pay-per-view boxing.

So, considering the new pieces on the board, the number that Team Fury reportedly mentioned should ideally correspond to Jake Paul’s current stature as one of the biggest voices in the boxing world. What’s your take? Do you think a Jake Paul-Tommy Fury rematch would still interest fans?
