Did Ryan Garcia jump ship to Rolando Romero? Or was he made to do so by Floyd Mayweather? The fans, pundits, and promoters are hotly debating this as the American boxer backtracked on his words and pulled out of negotiations with Devin Haney. The boxing landscape has changed a bit, as it seems ‘KingRy’ and Oscar De La Hoya‘s relationship has strained beyond repair. But does ‘Money’ hold such sway over Garcia?

Jeff Mayweather has shed light on the newfound relationship between the 25-year-old boxer and his mentor, Floyd Mayweather. The Devin Haney negotiations were in full swing before Mayweather spent some time with Garcia. Soon, Garcia snubbed Haney for a potential favorable fight with ‘Rolly’ Romero. Jeff Mayweather, when asked about Mayweather’s influence on Garcia, denied it. He revealed that Garcia and Rolly Romero pursued the idea on their own accord. The two had a history and wanted to jump on the bandwagon. Meanwhile, Haney got cut from the frame.

I don’t think, I don’t think Floyd had anything to do with it. I think that Rolly and Ryan, I think they came up with this themselves. They have both been talking about it forever,” Jeff Mayweather declared.

“And now, Rolly is in a position [to] finally be able to make it happen. And he also knows that, you know, Ryan brings a lot of fans to the dance. So, of course, he wants him, too,” he added further.

Therefore, Uncle Jeff gave his nephew a clean slate. However, ‘TBE’ caused a stir with his actions as his influence ticked Oscar De La Hoya off. The latter even reached a breaking point as he blasted Mayweather to “f*ck off”. And this was his second concern.

In addition, the two are embroiled in a legal battle, and those tensions are now trickling out on social media. The verbal warfare has taken center stage, and resentment is being expressed publicly. This is not a good look for both, especially De La Hoya, whose primary job is to bring suitors to his fighter.
