John Fury is furious. Speaking to Seconds Out, the former bare-knuckle fighter is unhappy with Tyson Fury being edged out of public opinion. Blaming Oleksandr Usyk, he said that the Ukrainian and his team are trying to create friction between the followers and Tyson Fury, and it seems they are winning for the time being. Questioning the public’s wits, Fury contends that even though his son has done so much for the country, all he gets in return is a bunch of followers who root for a foreigner.

Michael Benson shared his statement on Twitter today. Since the time it came, over 62k have viewed the post. Many more joined in sharing their perspectives. Most, if not all, openly questioned Fury Senior’s remarks.

Seriously? Fans ask John Fury

Supporting Oleksandr Usyk, user Sam called ‘The Cat’ masterly, someone who’s out of the ordinary. In his strong opinion, Tyson Fury could learn a bit or two from the Ukrainian fighter.

Vehemently contesting John Fury’s comments, the following user added that whatever the senior Fury mentioned, it is his son’s undoing, not a foreigner’s job.

Toeing a similar line, the following user asked, how come Oleksandr Usrk, who barely understands English, turned the English crowd against Tyson Fury?

The following user stated matter-of-factly that the responsibility for turning the followers against him lies with Tyson Fury. Most sports lovers ignored his maneuvers for quite some time. But avoiding [possibly the Usyk fight] was enough to try the patience of a saint.

Without beating about the bush, Timothy Evans said there is barely any instance of Oleksandr Usyk offending the general public. However, it remains confident that he hasn’t ripped off anyone for the last eighteen months.

It has been over six months since Tyson Fury returned to the ring. The Mancunian, who announced retirement in August last year, returned to defend his WBC title from Derek Chisora on December 3. Ever since talks of a fight with one or the other boxer have been making the news, it was almost sure that a battle with Usyk was in place. But unfortunately, the fight collapsed on the negotiations table. Then the report of a bout with former champion Andy Ruiz Jr. came about. However, it also failed to come to fruition.

As it turns out, Fury has called out mixed martial artists Jon Jones, the reigning UFC Heavyweight champion, and the former Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou for a fight on a single night!
