Ahead of the Artur Beterbiev vs. Callum Smith on January 11, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association issued a letter that stated that Beterbiev’s urine sample contained raised levels of 5b-androstanediol and HGH. For the same reason, VADA declared that Beterbiev’s test had “atypical findings“.

Likewise, several people raised their eyebrows. Callum’s brother Liam Smith questioned Beterbiev’s sincerity as a sportsperson. However, since atypical findings did not mean the Canadian boxer tested positive for a banned substance, further investigation was required. Recently, VADA took to social media and declared the final result of the test.

Before the match, Callum Smith indirectly stated that Beterbiev did not pass the VADA test. However, in a reply, Betebiev called himself a clean athlete. But, after Artur Beterbiev defeated Callum Smith via a 7th-round TKO, Liam Smith accused Beterbiev of definitely being “on something“. In a ludicrous statement, he even went to the extent of claiming that there was “more testosterone” in Beterbiev than “us four brothers put together“. Finally, VADA has announced Beterbiev’s final result.

Taking to X, VADA congratulated Beterbiev for passing his final test with flying colors. “Congratulations to @ABeterbiev @CallumSmith23 for successfully completing @Vada_Testing @MatchroomBoxing @trboxing @BobArum @EddieHearn @wbcmoro @WBCBoxing @WorldBoxingOrg @IBFUSBAboxing FrankSmith @Shaun2Palmer @EOTTM11 @CarlMoretti,” they said.

I feel combat sport is a representation of life inside a cage or ring. There is fear, struggle, and the will to be free. It has a poetic quality.
