A post from Dan Canobbio, the host of Inside Boxing Live, has been doing the rounds on social media. It shows an in-fight boxing corner. With his team surrounding him, the boxer is taking a break on the stool. But the highlight of the short clip is the team member who is busy conversing on the phone while letting the boxer take a sip from a water bottle. The dramatic footage soon caught the imaginations of fans and followers.

Dan Canobbio wrote, “Man made a call from the corner.” But Dave Coldwell, whose X profile describes him as a boxing manager and coach, posted the video before him. Tagging a multinational fast food chain, he tweeted, “When you need to get that @NandosUK delivery order in!“

An overview of the comments shows that most took the post in a lighthearted way. However, a serious few did raise a question or two. Whether privileges such as attending a call during a fight are extended in real life.

Taking a dig at the video, this user added that it was none other than Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the other end of the call.

This user took it to the next level. According to them, the cornerman must have shared with the bookkeepers that he’s placing his money on the boxer sitting at the opposite corner.

According to this fan, the person with the phone must have placed a bet with the Warrington, UK-based bookmaker, Betfred.

But the following fans appear suspicious. Perhaps the person in question has changed his mind about the betting order.

There were a few interesting comments from the original post too.

For instance, the below user believes that it must have the person’s spouse or partner. Otherwise, which call could be of more importance?

This user added an altogether different twist. According to them, the cornerman must have been waiting for quite some time to reach the phone service provider’s customer service department. Now that he finally got connected, there was no way he could hang up on the call.

Undoubtedly, it was an unusual departure from serious sports reporting. But for sure, most of those who viewed it and chimed in with their comments enjoyed it.
