The stance Lucinei Santos maintained somewhat mimicked the one we often see in Muay Thai. No rational distribution of the gap between the two legs, and almost always ready to take his eyes off. Barely an iota of footwork or head movement was displayed by Santos. At this, even though he was 52, Paul Iannuzzi approached the contest with sincere respect and love for the fight. First measured Santos with his jab hand, and just when he sensed him within his reach, attacked the 35-year-old with a three-punch combination comprising a jab, cross, and a round lead hand.

In a desperate attempt to flee the situation, Santos took his head down and his eyes off Iannuzzi. At this, Iannuzzi, moving along with Santos, hit the latter with a powerful right hook. This saw Santos hit the canvas, and thus, Paul Iannuzzi, the 52-year-old, won the fight.

Following the end of the bout, Iannuzzi said, “The left hook I hit him with is what really hurt him. After the first right hand, he almost turned his back, but I was able to hit him with another and that was it.”

With this fight and victory against Santos, Paul Iannuzzi is now the oldest male to debut in pro boxing.

There was eighteen-year age gap between Paul Iannuzzi and Lucinei Santos!

Prior to fighting Paul Iannuzzi, Lucinei Santos had four professional fights. His pro debut was against an individual named Kris Jacobs, and Santos lost his debut match via TKO in the first round. Santos fights in the super lightweight division and has so far fought only five rounds total. He has not had a very productive fighting career, so to speak. His debut match aside, Santos has lost every single one of his bouts via KO and in every case by the end of the first round. Santos,35, is eighteen years younger than Iannuzzi, but still the latter outclassed him in their fight.

On the other hand, this was Paul Iannuzzi’s debut fight. Given that, there is hardly anything else to talk about on his fight profile. For Iannuzzi, this was the beginning and the end. He does not believe that he will fight again given his wife’s attitude toward him competing in fights.

He concluded by saying, “Nope, one and done for me. My wife absolutely won’t let me fight again.”
