Malik Scott is well known for being Deontay Wilder‘s trainer. However, apart from ‘The Bronze Bomber’, Scott regularly trains several boxing enthusiasts. One of Scott’s students is the glamorous broadcaster, Kate Abdo who has a solid love for the sport.

Recently, Scott took to social media and uploaded a brief clip of Abdo’s training. With Scott’s guidance, the 42-year-old showed her impressive understanding of the sport. Likewise, Abdo impressed everyone with her skills. Here is the video that has now gone viral on Instagram.

Kate Abdo throws combinations and powerful shovel-hooks

In the video that Malik Scott shared Kate Abdo is seen maintaining an orthodox stance. As Scott guides her, Abdo is seen throwing jabs, straight hands, and combinations. At one point in the video, she repeatedly throws a three-punch combination and then takes a step back to get out of harm’s way. At another point, Abdo moves forward with four-punch combinations, displaying her speed. Additionally, Malik Scott teaches Abdo how to measure the opponent with her jabs.

The 42-year-old also shows her ability to slip in proximity and hit her opponent with shovel hooks to the body. In doing so, she displays her ability to use her legs and hips well. In short, Abdo shows that she can shift weight, move, attack, measure, slip, and generate power in proximity. Hopefully, Abdo will only get better at boxing.

In this context, it is also worth mentioning that Abdo impressed her trainer Scott with her improvement and approach to boxing. In an interview with talkSPORT, the trainer explained why he admired Abdo’s boxing.

Scott finds Kate heavy-handed and a “sponge for knowledge”

Speaking about Abdo, last year, Scott claimed that he is hard on her at times. However, given her size, Malik finds Kate “extremely heavy-handed“. And apart from a commendable right hand, Scott thinks Kate “turns her hips well“.  But, what impresses Malik the most is that “she’s a sponge for knowledge“. Likewise, Malik admired Kate’s passion for boxing although she had a full-time job as a broadcaster.

On the other hand, Kate Abdo testified to the claim Malik is hard on her during training. According to the broadcaster, Malik would be honest with her and tell her if there was something she needed to improve. “He’ll tell me I have slow feet,” Abdo had said.
