David Benavidez started cautiously against the dangerous Demetrius Andrade. The first few rounds were a chess match, Benavidez using his jab to test the waters and Andrade countering with explosive flurries. But by the third round, Benavidez began to unravel his brilliant attack. He found his rhythm, slipping punches and landing sharp counters of his own. By the sixth, the tide had fully turned.

Benavidez unleashed a ferocious assault, battering Andrade with powerful combinations. The referee had seen enough, stepping in to wave off the fight just as Andrade absorbed a brutal right hand. This fight was closely observed by Dmitry Bivol Despite the size difference, he recognized Benavidez’s talent. “He’s a good fighter,” Bivol acknowledged in a post-fight interview. “I respect him. He could fight in 175 and make problems for fighters of course,” admitted the WBA light heavyweight champion.
