Jermell Charlo, the reigning undisputed junior middleweight champion, suffered an injury ahead of his fight against Tim Tszyu. This has put this showdown in jeopardy. Per ESPN, the fight would be postponed now because there is no way out. Charlo’s injury would take around two months to recover from.

The Australian boxing star has challenged Charlo for his four belts and the fight was most likely to take place on 28th January in Las Vegas. Tszyu, who holds phenomenal numbers (21-0, 15KOs) was seen as a threat to Charlo’s reign. The Hall of Famer boxer’s son was confident of his win. The 28-year-old was disappointed with this update. For him, this was a golden opportunity. But unfortunately, the intensity duo developed by going back and forth is now of no use until a new date comes into action.

ESPN RingSide reported this on Twitter, which sent fans into fury.

A fan wrote, “Wbo should strip him now.”

Another fan speculated injury as an excuse. According to him, Charlo wants to enjoy the festive season instead of training in the camp.

Another disappointed fan asked the proof of injury.

Overall, boxing fans are disappointed with the fighters. The fights they really want to see either collapse due to business reasons or fell into jeopardy due to injuries. On the other hand, the governing bodies of boxing are not able to take any action. This is the reason boxing is losing its fan base. The fans are investing in the hope of an exciting contest and what they get in the end is disappointment.

How did Jermell Charlo suffer the injury?

The 32-year-old is coming out with a dominating win over Brian Castano. After failing to secure a win in the first match, both fighters met in the rematch in May. Charlo, who came up with more determination, knocked Castano in the tenth round and became undisputed. Since then, this was his first title defense.
