Weeks After Parting Ways, Canelo Alvarez Makes An Honest Confession About His Promoter

Now, as he prepares himself for a high-stakes showdown against middleweight champion Jermell Charlo, many fans are eager to see him take on a new legit challenger.

However, this bout is not just any ordinary clash as it signifies a huge transition in Alvarez’s boxing journey. In a shocking twist that saw ‘Saul’ ink a deal with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), leaving behind his long-standing partnership with Matchroom. Despite this, the move did not cast a shadow of animosity between Alvarez and Eddie Hearn.

In a recent interview with IFLTV, Alvarez revealed that despite his split with Hearn, the two were still on good terms. He added that he considered the British promoter his friend and was grateful for the things they accomplished together. However, for Alvarez PBC marked a new chapter in his career.

“He’s, he’s my friend. He’s my friend, and we’re working with them. And we did great things with Matchroom. But right now, you know, I’m in PBC, and we want to do the best.” said Alvarez

In an interview with Boxing Social Hearn acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the details of Alvarez’s new deal with PBC. Despite the parting, the promoter wished his former client the best of luck while highlighting their successful collaboration. Moreover, the Matchroom CEO also recognized the possibility of future cooperation.

“I don’t know the details. Whether it’s two fight, is it three fight? But he’s got to make his move. I spoke to him last night, I wished him all the best. We’ve done seven of his last eight fights, it’s been an amazing run. I’m sure we’ll work together again but now, he has to make his move.” Hearn said

Alvarez’s departure from Matchroom and his alliance with PBC represents a new chapter in the latter stages of his career. In addition,  as the countdown to the showdown with Charlo intensifies, the implications of this move will only be displayed more profoundly. However, despite Hearn and Alvarez now going on different paths, their friendship still remains as sold as the time when the two worked together.
