In June this year, Hannah Gabriels was to rematch Claressa Shields and avenge the UD loss she suffered in 2018. However, in an unprecedented turn of events, after Gabriels tested positive for clostebol, the Costa Rican fighter was replaced by Maricela Cornejo at the last moment. But, now that the WBC has stated that Gabriels’ ingestion of the banned substance was “accidental” and not “intentionally directed to enhance” the former’s performance in the ring, the 40-year-old is back chasing Shields.
Gabriels has unfinished business with Claressa which must be settled in the ring. In this context, after the Costa Rican boxer recently called out Shields, the latter rattled the former on X.

Hannah Gabriels complains of being on Claressa Shields’ blocklist; Shields calls Gabriels a “b**ch”
Gabriels is almost desperate to rematch Shields. And as per her latest statement, there were people who tried to get her out of Shields’ way. However, now that the WBC findings are public, the 40-year-old believes it is time that ‘T-Rex’ stops running. Likewise, taking to Instagram, in one of her posts, Hannah wrote, “It ain’t done and settled until I see you [Shields] #facetoface Tried to get me out of the way… Cowards.” “YOU! @ClaressaShields (make sure you tell her, she has me blocked.), YOU CAN’T RUN ANYMORE,” she violently added. The Undisputed Middleweight champion was perplexed by Gabriels’s post. In her opinion, while she was ready to face Hannah in the ring, it was the latter who tested positive for a banned substance and stopped the fight from happening. As a result, Shields wrote, “She the one popped dirty wtf! Weird a** b**ch.”
In this connection, it is worth mentioning that both fighters wanted to settle their scores through a rematch in 2023.

On the other hand, while Gabriels planned to KO Shields, the latter planned to return the favor by dropping her opponent in the ring. “Hanna Gabriels knocked me down in round one in our first fight. I’ve wanted the rematch ever since to settle that score,” she’d said. Unfortunately, the fight did not come to fruition. Hopefully, the duo will finally have their rematch.
