“We’re Dying Out for a Bug Fight”- Eddie Hearn Teases a UK Stadium Debut for Ryan Garcia in His Next Bout

It hasn’t even been a week since Ryan Garcia fought his last. And already, promoter, Eddie Hearn is talking about who KingRy will face next. Garcia has just made his return to professional boxing after more than a year of absence. Before his comeback fight against the Ghanaian boxer Emmanuel Tagoe, Garcia fought Olympic gold-medalist Luke Campbell. That fight was back in January 2021.

With Garcia now back in the game and winning, promoters just can’t help but keep the engine intact and running. In his recent appearance on The DAZN Boxing Show, the Chairman of Matchroom Sport, Eddie Hearn had the following to say:

“There’s a lovely place called Doncaster in Yorkshire. We can get 20,000 there outdoors for Ryan Garcia’s first fight in the UK. We’ve got the bags ready, packed. We’re willing to travel. We hope that Maxi Hughes can get the call. He deserves the opportunity.”

Who Eddie Hearn has in his mind for Ryan Garcia to fight next?

He’s an individual named Maxi Hughes that Eddie Hearn wants to match up against Garcia in his debut fight in the UK. Not only the opponent, but Hearn seems to already have a venue, and a PPV sketched in his head. Doncaster in Yorkshire, and 20,000 people.

Hearn is steps ahead in the game and is already selling the fight. He literally screams out Maxi Hughes’s resume to make him look like a worthy opponent. The number of fighters that Hughes has steamrolled to this day. As Eddie Hearn is heard saying, “There’s a Cinderella story in the UK, a guy called Maxi Hughes, who’s on the most incredible run in the division.”

To add weight to his proposal, he further adds, “He beat Jono Carroll. He beat (Jovanni) Straffon. Just beat Ryan Walsh. We’re dying out for a big fight! He’s the IBO world champion; we appreciate it’s not one of the big four, but all those belts are tied up right now.”
