Shakur Stevenson recently found himself surrounded with criticism as he left his fans disappointed with his lackluster performance in his most recent bout. The fight for the vacant WBC lightweight championship featured a passive Stevenson. Even though he dominated Edwin De Los Santos with his elite defensive skills, the fans weren’t impressed. The audience’s displeasure was obvious from their boos during and after the fight.

Even Stevenson acknowledged his weak performance in his post-fight interview as he admitted to not feeling his best prior to the fight. Deontay Wilder blasts fans as Shakur Stevenson faces raging criticism

Recently, Deontay Wilder did an interview with Elie Seckbach, during which the reporter told him about a recent quote from Stevenson which stated, “The same guys that loved you yesterday, hate you today”. Wilder shared his agreement with the statement, stating, “That’s how it is.” Moreover, when asked about his own experience when dealing with such a situation, Wilder touched on the subject of loyalty. He stated, “That’s how it is bro. Everybody wanna be on the winning team.”

He questioned, “Why you can’t be on a certain team and stick with them through the rollercoaster through the ups and downs? Come on”. Furthermore, he pointed out, “It’s what they gon’ do this is life! Not just a business. This is life and this is how it’s supposed to be. Just because it didn’t stroke what you felt there was gonna be or your fantasy of how it’s supposed to be now you wanna jump out of the bandwagon, cuz it didn’t go your way or whatever.”

He also stated that such people would go back once the person becomes popular again. Moreover, he told such people to “Keep your fake a** home bro.” He further shared a message to his former fans, “If you was a fan of mine and you ain’t no more for any type of reason- stay your a* away from me. I don’t want you part of my fan base, I don’t. Imma tell you right now- I don’t. And you know when I speak I speak with truth and honesty.”

Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua in 2024?

Wilder appears positive about his potential fight against former world champion Anthony Joshua. Wilder shared that he recently had a fruitful discussion with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. Scheduled for a December 23rd showdown in Saudi Arabia, both former heavyweight champions are poised to headline a star-studded fight card. Joshua is scheduled to face Otto Wallin, while Wilder is set to square off against Joseph Parker on the same night. Previously the duo were almost all set to fight one another, however, the fight couldn’t be made in the end.

Interestingly, following a shared flight with Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, Wilder expressed a willingness to reconcile. In a social media post, the 38-year-old American confirmed discussions about the prospective fight. Speaking to 78SPORTSTV, Wilder shared details of his conversation with Hearn. He stated, “It was cool. We have our differences. I know him and Anthony Joshua’s manager have held this fight up… But Eddie was saying he talked to His Excellency – Hearn told me if we both win, the fight’s gonna be on. So I’m looking forward to finally getting Joshua in the ring. Win, lose, or draw, this is what it’s all about.”
